George Stephanopolous had both Tim Geithner and Alan Greenspan on his Sunday morning show. Geithner would not rule out tax hikes on the middle class to close the soaring US deficit despite assurances from Obama during the campaign that the middle class would end up with a net tax cut.

Greenspan, having dismissed the existence of the US housing bubble while at the helm of the Fed now says there may be another down turn in prices. Hopefully he’s misreading housing as badly now as he did in 2004/2005.

UPDATE: Add Larry Summers to the list of Obama advisers to take to the airwaves Sunday laying the groundwork for higher taxes. Wonder why they picked a Sunday smack in the middle of summer to put the word out? Maybe no one will notice…yeah right!
